Sweet pic Ben!
Is that an F-35 or an F-22? I always get them confused, they look pretty similar. Whatever it is, I wouldn't want to be at the pointy end of it when it gets angry.

That's an F-22, Simon. They built them right here in Atlanta. I work under the approach to Dobbins ANG where they build and test fly them. It's really neat seeing them fly with their F-16 escort. If what they say is true...........

A plane that looks great, flies great.

the F-22 must be something.

Yeah we ended up with the F-35 (or will do when Lockheed get it together). There was something shady about the RAAF procurement process. We were looking at the F-22 as an option (by all accounts the F-22 is a superb aircraft, with some amazing abilities), but it seems the F-35 is a better all-rounder (good for ground attack, bombing etc., as well as being a pretty good fighter, with stealth capabilities). Either way, all of a sudden all of the bids were stopped, and the F-35 was chosen before anything else could be properly evaluated.

Also, a senate ruling made it so that the F-22 cannot be exported outside the US. I believe that ruling is being overturned for countries like the UK and Australia who have proven themselves as allies of the US, so the F-22 may still be an option if production delays on the F-35 prove to be too long.

It's a sweet looking aircraft, and from what I've heard, it kicks some serious ass (I've heard stories like 2 of these things taking out entire squadrons of other aircraft types in exercises before they are even seen).
