Gone Huntin

Post by Sniper62 »

me and my father are leaving the 14th and coming back around the 22nd

we are driving up to South Dakota, and hunting pheasant for a week. it'll be like old times when we used to live there. i was only 8 when we moved but i still remember going out every year and hunting (and geting lost in the corn fields) lol

its sure guna be busy, SD is the pheasant capital of the world and ppl came in from everywhere from what i remember...

ND already has snow so we'll see if we get any snow up there. then on the way back we might stop for a night in the tennessee mountians and camp out.

so this up coming week should be a hellafun week :D

I read a short story by Roald Dahl about pheasant hunting, where they baited the pheasants with drugged sultanas... The pheasants start dropping out of the trees in their hundreds, and they hide them in a shed or something so no-one will see they've been poaching them. Then the drug wears off, all the pheasants start waking up and the plan all goes to hell. Cracked me up.

Roald Dahl was a fighter pilot during the war by the way. I think he flew Furies and Hurricanes in North Africa, until he got shot down and badly burnt.

Have fun Snipe. At least the buggers won't be shooting back!

Hope you bag a few Sniper. I haven't hunted pheasant in a few years but got to say of all the game birds, pheasant is the best tasting IMO.
