As we all have a love for flight, some of us fly as real life pilots and others can only dream of being one. Has anyone else here fly radio controlled aircraft?

Well last year I took that leap and decided to make it as one of my main hobbies other than computer gaming, It did take a while to do some research into finding a reputable local flying club and finding the right plane to fly as a beginner so I can learn the skills. The plane I brought was a trainer called a Alpha 40 made by Hanger 9 who I am a great fan of as they make amazing kits.

This is a pic of my trainer, it doesnt look much by the wingspan is 63 in (1600mm), so its a fair good size. Carrying a evolution 40 two stroke engine.

Closer look at the 2 stroke engine.

I still need to pass my A and B licence which I need as part of the regulation by http://www.bmfa.org/ so I can fly without supervision to feel confident to move on to bigger and better things. Ultimately my aim is to go the scale route with WW1 and WW2 planes.
As there is so much choice out there and so many good kits which can resemble your favourite ride, some favourites of mine are the P40E, P38 and the P51, there are also some great WW1 models too like the Sopwith Camel and Fokker VII. But my true love is the B25 medium Bomber and with enough experience and flight time I will be purchasing one of these models.

So does anyone else have an interest or use to have an interest and thought about getting back into the hobby, love to hear about your experiences and what planes you fly.

My uncle is really into remote controlled Helicopters, he has an apache that can do a barrel roll, through I seem to have bad memories of one nearly hitting me when I was very small.

Looks like a nice plane you got there, I also looked them up, they don't seem half as expensive as I thought they were.

What fuel does she run?

She runs on a methanol blended based fuel for glow engines, currently on a 5 sport rating fuel, which is easy going for newbies like myself.
