Looks like Microsoft have finally released a teaser for their upcoming version of Flight Simulator, the graphics look awesome, hopefully it'll have a few new features, and they'll expand on some of the old ones.

I saw somewhere that ms flightsim had a dambuster addon. You could fly the lancs on the dam runs and attack the dams.
Here it is.

They used that on a BBC show where they had a modern RAF flight crew go through all the training etc. that the Dambusters went through for the dams mission, then they set them up in a full size mock-up of a Lancaster and running that software to fly the mission. They all said it was incredible that the original mission went as well as it did, incredibly difficult....

Man! I hate Microsoft and their damned flight simulator!
I keep buying copies of the Combat series because they look so cool, but the AI sucks and the terrain is alway dissapointingly flat up close.
Then the new version shows up and I get all excited again.
I do like the civilian stuff they do (the realism factor) but, let's face it, flying to Hawaii is a bit tedious.
That Dambuster mod looks pretty cool. I would love to fly that mission. I noticed that you could fly Wimpies too! Very cool indeed!
I need another flight sim like I need another hole in my head....
Whats the release date?

Here's a free open source flight sim...
Just found it today, so I haven't tried it yet, it'll probably be a bit rough around the edges. But the price is right...

Never noticed that link that Bundy put up until now.
That DamBuster mission looks awesome!
One of us should buy it, fly the mission and let the po folk like me know if it's worth buying...
I take it that game isn't multiplayer?

I've downloaded and installed!
Report so far;
As long as the game settings are not set to high the graphics are simple but ok with good Fps
there are a load of game settings to play with (its going to take some time
) but still it is easy to fly as you start infight.
Only problem I'm having sofar is with my keymapping, in finding the menu to map my joystick correctly!
Loads of extra planes to download too...got to have a go at the x15 and the wrightFlyer1903
Not to meantion Santa!

ok I found it, where to do the keymapping!
In the game folder you will find another folder called "data" in there you will find the file "keyboard.xml"

Where the heck is the start button on Santa's sleigh?
Do they come with instructions?
I'm still wondering if that DamBuster mission can be multi player.

I'm kinda curious what the flight characteristics are for a sleigh pulled by eight tiny reindeer.
What weapon systems are mounted?
Where do you refuel them things anyway?

I think that Dambuster add-on was for MS Flight Sim 2002 and Combat flight Sim 2. I checked a while back and they hadn't updated it for 2004 at that time, it seems unlikely they will. MSFS2002 and CFS2 had a multiplayer component, but I don't know if the add-on supports it.

1). STOL/VTOL characteristics with an extremely high wing loading. Specially configured for operations from stations in the Arctic regions.
2). Conventional "Dumb" package delivery from a hand actuated payload delivery system. Armed with "Toys of the world" Mk IX, and BCWDDTH (Bad Children Who Didn't Do Their Homework) active high-band discrimination.
3). Ground refueling carried out by dwarf, mid-air refuelling by nose mounted feed bag. Special care should be taken with deposits from rear of aircraft from burnt/unburnt fuel leaving overflow tube.
