Till now I have been a platoon (?) leader – lieutenant. But now I’m a captain and have five platoons under my command. To be honest I’m not sure what it’s called in english. The structure is like this:

7-9 men is one “lag”
4-5 “lag” is one “tropp”
4-5 “tropp” is one “område”

All together I will have about 200 men under my command… so don’t f**k with me!

Awesome Dev! Good work mate.
In Australia that would make you a Company commander, I guess the same as the rest of the world. That's a lot of responsibility.
Is it a rifle company, or something else?
I mean infantry/armour etc.?
Do you get NATO or UN postings overseas?

This is National Guard.
Our main responsibility is to protect vital objects and people from foreign attacks. Today that is different from what it was yesterday, and it’s not easier – it’s harder.

Today terrorist targets aren’t the same as yesterday. Today they target schools, train stations etc. In Norway I think, one of the worst targets would be the kid’s parade on May 17. Norway’s national day. How do you protect something like that?

So without going into boring details I’m commanding an anti-terror company. I got five troops that are specialised in protecting different kind of objects. We can enter houses, defend property and guard VIP persons. We have no named objects; we operate like swat – “we are on call, and can be used anywhere”.

I was a platoon leader in the same kind of troop, so someone must be happy with the way I do my job. And I do not teach my boys to aim at the legs…

May 17. Not a good day for me. They call it May Day in Korea. 1981 Riots in Tegu Korea that said killed 500 students. 5000 would be more like it and most likely a low estimate. Worst day of my life. I still have nightmares about it and am usually one bummed out dude on that day every year.
