These are cheaper than the APC equipment and comes with USB monitoring and auto shutdown during power failure based on time since power loss or total percentage of remaining battery.

Thanks Kiz but I think that that buddy of mine insalted one that protects the whole house now. Right at the main circuit panel couple weeks ago. Or should I have a couple cheapo version before my puter right now or should I get these aswell?

Carbon protection on the lines and surge suppressors only protect you from power surges. What actually kills electronics quicker are the brownouts, reduction in power, that happen quite often in homes. The Automatic Voltage Regulator keeps your power at a constant 110 volts. If it senses problems with your power, it kicks into battery mode even if your power is on. Either one of those will protect your pc and router/modem.
