Rats recommended- Turn off QoS-CTHL update

Post by Reddog »

These are tidbits from various forum post from yesterday's host side update and some recomendations from the Rats

nVidia nForce users The nVidia firewall is known to cause a host of issues with TCP connections, and has proven highly problematic for WWII users."

Windows XP users By default Microsoft install and enable a "QoS Packet Scheduler" on all Windows XP network connections. It is highly recommended that you disable and uninstall this feature to generally improve your Internet access.

QoS is CPU intensive, and primarily works by throttling your connection speed to create leeway for time-critical, lossy packets like UDP-based VOIP protocols.

here's the links to the update post:

And in a nutshell this is how to disable and turn off Qos:

Start menu, control panel, network connections.
Right click on local connection, select properties and uncheck QoS Packet Scheduler, and click uninstall.

Lot's of folks are saying it helps with the game and lag, and if ya don't like it you can always reenable it...
